Love Dalén

Professor

I work at the Swedish Museum of Natural History, mainly with research on ancient DNA & population genetics. At the moment, we are working on several projects on different vertebrates, for example lemmings, mammoths, cave lions and ptarmigan.

Research interests

Ancient DNA research is aimed at retrieving genetic data from historical specimens. This can involve anything from 100-year-old samples stored in a museum, to analyses on Ice Age species such as mammoth and cave bear. There is therefore a wide variety of questions one can address using ancient DNA technology, including the taxonomy of extinct species and extinction/recolonisation dynamics of populations through time.
