Research interests

I am interested in insect-plant interactions and try to find answers to (i) how specific insect-plant relationships can form, (ii) how insects implement and utilize information about their current host plants and (iii) what a host plant preference is and what it is affected by.

In my PhD-project I use behavioral, physiological and phylogenetic methods in an ecological framework to investigate evolutionary and mechanistic aspects of host-plant preference. I use nymphalid butterflies as study system, especially Polygonia c-album, Aglais urticae, Aglais io, Vanessa cardui or Vanessa atalanta.
